Salisbury Steak Mushroom Gravy

Ingredients

Steak:

1 1/2 pounds ground beef

1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs

2 large eggs, room temperature

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon garlic salt

2 teaspoons mustard powder

1/4 tsp salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

3 tablespoons of olive oil

Mushroom sauce :

3 tablespoons of butter

8 ounces mushrooms, sliced

1 large onion, sliced

1 tablespoon minced garlic

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 cup flour

3 cups beef broth

¼ tsp salt

Pinch of black pepper

Instructions

Add all the steak patty ingredients to a large bowl. Mix with hands to combine well.

Form four oval patties with the ingredients for the steak patty.

Try to keep the patties relatively thin and even for optimal and even cooking.

Add the oil to a large skillet over medium heat. Let it heat up.

Once the pan is hot, add the steak patties to the pan.

Brown the steak patties 3 to 5 minutes on each side.

When the steak patties are browned, remove them from the pan. Do not empty or clean the pan!

Add mushrooms and onions to the same skillet. Cook until tender over medium heat.

Slowly add the beef broth to the skillet. Increase the heat to high and whisk.

As soon as the dish begins to boil, adjust the heat to low. Let simmer for about 8-10 minutes.

Add the steak patties to the skillet with the sauce.

Cook about 10 more minutes over medium-low heat.

Serve over mashed potatoes
