Ingredients
12 Hawaiian buns
2 tablespoons butter, unsalted and melted
½ cup butter, melted
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg, this is optional
1 egg
8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375*
Grease a 9×13 baking dish with the 2 tablespoons of melted butter
Separate the rolls and place them in the baking dish
Slightly cut an “X” in the center of the top of each roll
Use a wooden spoon to press down on the “X” to slightly open the roll, but don’t push all the way in.
In a small dish, mix the ½ cup of melted butter, brown sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon
Stir until the mixture is smooth and combined
In a small bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth, add egg and granulated sugar and beat together
Transfer the cream cheese mixture to a piping bag or ziploc bag and cut the corner
Carefully stick the bag into the hole and begin pouring the cream cheese mixture, slowly lifting it out of the hole as you fill it.
Bake the rolls for 12 to 15 minutes
Take out of the oven and serve warm!
