Ingredients
1 ½ pounds potatoes, I use Russets
3 carrots, peeled and sliced
1 onion, chopped
1 pound ground beef, cooked and defatted
2 cups of water
1 to 6 ounces of tomato paste
1 minced garlic clove
Salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
In Dutch oven or skillet, cook ground beef until cooked through, drain off fat
In the slow cooker, add ground beef, potatoes, carrot, onion and garlic
In a small bowl, combine the dried spices
Whisk together the tomato paste and water, then mix with the dried spices
Then pour this mixture over the meat and vegetables in the slow cooker
Put the lid on the slow cooker
Cook over low heat for 7 hours
Serve the stew with buttered bread
