➜ Maintaining a healthy gut—which is crucial for a strong immune system—requires two types of ingredients: prebiotic and probiotic (see the information at right for more gut-health basics). Prebiotic foods provide fuel for good bacteria in the gut, while probiotic foods provide the bacteria itself. This drink contains three outstanding gut-health ingredients. High in fiber, bananas and kiwifruits are prebiotic powerhouses. And kefir—similar to a liquid yogurt but with more beneficial bacteria—is a probiotic bonanza.
